Beaches
On sea and sand
East Lothian is known for its miles of well-maintained coastline and beautiful sandy beaches. Whether you’re drawn to its wonderful walks, thrilling water sports or relaxed wildlife-watching, you’ll find hours of amusement by the sea. Here are a few of our favourite spots.
Gullane Bents
Dog walkers flock to the amber sands at Gullane, and wind and kitesurfers take to the waves on warmer days. This beach is just a five-minute drive from The Leddie and has everything you need to make a day of it, including a café, toilets, and accessible facilities.
Yellowcraig
Yellowcraig occupies a natural cove, offering views across to Fidra Island and its lighthouse, famed for inspiring Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Not only does it offer fantastic views out to sea, inland you’ll find a family-friendly play park, nature trails and a hidden sculpture!
Seacliff Beach
Searching for something a little more secluded? Make a beeline for North Berwick, where this private beach can be accessed by coin-operated barrier. It's the perfect spot for a summer picnic, so bring a basket!
